In these verses are some things that we as Christians put on. We are to clothe in compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience. Listen to each other, bear the load, and forgive those things others have done to you. Forgive like the Lord forgave you. In all this, the greatest thing you can put on and wrap yourself with is the Love of God. His love binds everything, and brings forth unity.
I have paraphrased this, but as you read, do you see the qualities that result from drawing close to Him, and those who really have Christ within them? Compassion…some need to see themselves when they don’t have this. Kindness….in one passage I noted recently that we are to have it on our tongues. Gentleness.
Do you see gentleness these days?
Humility. Bowing your knees to Him, and when you stand up,your heart is still bowing, and you stand on your knees. It looks like you are standing on your feet, but you remember bowing long enough for God to move inside you, and draw you close to Him.
You have bowed, and you stand on your knees before others who don’t know Him, or if they do, they haven’t been in His Presence, in the Word for several days. God looks on our hearts. Perfect unity isn’t just for Heaven. Heaven came down when Jesus died on the cross for us, and rose again. He came to die for you, and me. Thankfulness should envelope our hearts.
Be strong in the LORD and in the power of His might. The full armor of God is what we wear.(Ephesians 6:)
