I Don’t Go Barefoot.

In the month of May, Mother would let us go barefoot. The cold grass on a hot summer day was awesome. In May it was awesome to have our shoes off at last. This was about the time we would swim in our pool. We would sit on the corner of the pool and sing. Then we would jump in the pool, or we would splash each other. If I was mad at my little sister, I would splash her well. At times we would  pour a bucket of water over our heads. It would freeze us for a moment. We loved to get cool. Summer in Charlotte area can be quite hot. We were near there, and it was always hot.
