The People were enthusiastic. Jesus was coming. They laid down palms in the roadway for him to come over. He would be coming on a donkey. It had not been ridden. I believe the timing was to praise Him, and the people thought he would have an earthly, kingdom.
It didn’t happen. Jesus said later, “My kingdom is not of this world.”
He did allow the people to be happy, and joyous. One weekend later, he would be crucified. The same people who were happy, were now crucifying Him? I don’t know. All I know is that the tide changed, and Christ went through trial, beatings, slapping, spitting on him, and mockery. The soldiers dressed him as a king, and presented him to the Jews.
They said, “Here is your king.”
On the cross, above it, there was a sign that said, ” King of the Jews.”
Jesus suffered, lost blood, and died on the cross for you, and me. They laid him in a tomb, and guards watched the tomb, lest the disciple steal his body. But on the third day, Jesus rose from the dead. He got up, and came out of the tomb. The resurrected Lord looked different, but it was Jesus. He had been marred so that none would recognize him. Now he was alive, but he still had the prints of the nails in his body at his feet, and hands. He still had the spear mark in His side.
Wounds that were there to show Thomas that He was alive, but that none will forget what he went through for humanity. All the world was forgiven on the cross. We look at the cross, see what he did, and we repent of our sins. He is our living Lord, and Savior. The Cross is where we come to repentance, and forgiveness. Without the shedding of blood, there could be no remission for their sins, or mine, and yours.
I am not a preacher. I am a teacher, because this is my calling. I believe Jesus died for you, and for me. I believe the transaction requires acceptance on our part. Jesus is the Son of God. He died for you, and me. He shed his blood for you and me. He forgave what the people had done while he was on the cross. Jesus forgave, and forgave, and forgave. He died that you and I might have abundant life. Trusting is necessary. We look back to the cross, and the empty tomb. Have you received Him as your Savior?
He changes lives. We put the Holy Spirit on the throne of our lives, and honor Jesus Christ as our Savior. That is something God allows us to do, because we would not find Him on our own. The blood of Christ cleanses us from all sins. Have you come to Him for cleansing? When You invited him to come into your life, was there a change? If not, invite him again.
