Abide means to be with, stay near, and when you are actively busying around the house or at work, you still have the Presence of the Lord as your top priority. You know He is with you because you talk to Him, and sing when you can. Your mind is on the Lord foremost. Abiding means that He is with you and the two-way communication is there. You talk, and He talks to you.
Yielding to God is how you abide. The Word says if you abide in Me, and my words abide in you ask what you will and it will be done. I believe the abiding is not asking for things. I believe the abiding is His Presence that lingers with you all day because you spent quality time with Him in the first of the day.
You don’t have to work with the abiding. When you kneel to Him, He is there. When you worship Him, He is there. I often picture the throne when I pray, but frankly He is always with those who have their mind, and heart fixed, and set like concrete on His ways. Abiding is special, because you want to maintain the relationship with Him which was made possible when Jesus died on the cross for us, and rose again. Enter boldly into the throne of Grace, but remember, it is not always the requesting that is needed.
Worship, adoration, and sitting with Him with your Bible open is the key to the relationship with Him. Honoring Him, and worship come as you learn to obey, and do what He says in the Word.
