I prayed for snow the other night. It takes three weeks for it to come usually after I have prayed for it. This has been something I have done for years. We have been having some Spring-like weather and that has been wonderful. But I love snow, and if the Winter goes without having snow, then we may have one big storm next year.
Michael reminded me yesterday.
” Remember when you and the kids prayed for snow? We didn’t have it the year before, but the next year we had a blizzard……..11 inches.”
I said, “Is that what happened?”
All I could say was, “I have prayed for one snow this year. It is up to the Lord as to how big it is. I miss the snow, and this is the first time I have prayed for snow this year. I don’t want to ruin it for everyone, but I would like to have a real Winter for part of the Winter. I would be spoiling everyone elses idea of what to pray for, but this girl didn’t grow up in the North. I love snow.”
“Ruby, when you pray for snow, it usually comes. It may not come this year. But we will have a good snow next Winter if it doesn’t.”
I could hear him going on and on. I smiled about the big snow we had one year when the kids and I prayed for snow. God sent a good one. We had over ten inches! We agreed together, and delighted in the big snow that came.
No one else is asking for snow. God made the snow also, and the Winter has to have so much cold to kill off the bad germs and bugs for the Spring and Summer. Beside that, I love SNOW!!!!!!
Usually it takes three weeks to order some snow. I was surprised that snow might come in this week-end. The amount of snow is up to the Lord.
I have some other ideas about praying. I believe that those twenty-five and under receive their prayers answered faster than the rest of us. I believe there is a goodness of the Lord effect, and that He loves for the young to serve Him and to pray, and delight in Him. I tell young people, children and those below twenty-five that God will hear their prayers. He loves them because they have freshness about their praying, and courage.
I used to be in the twenty-five and younger group. I received Christ when I was eight. I rededicated my life at twelve, and received assurance that Christ was living inside me. It took days on my bed struggling with believing, and suddenly I knew He was there, and that He really came into me when I was eight years old.
I doubted because I was so young. What can a child do? All I know is that the Lord said, “Let the little children come unto me, and don’t tell them ‘no!’ The kingdom of God is like this…….you accept it like a child would a gift.”
I paraphrased the verse, because it is not right to quote without giving credit, and I know that verse by heart. The Word of God is fresh, and it is powerful as a Hammer that breaks up the Rocks that hinder the Holy Spirit’s move in our lives. Rocks? Yes, like apathy, and falling to sleep and yawning when someone says much about Christ. Church is boring to those who have a rocky spirit. They haven’t been to church much, and they don’t care to take up the habit right now. Their spirit has rocks like boulders that need to be smashed by the Lord, and then they will have a desire to be close to Christ, to walk in His ways, and to pray humbly for things.
How do I know or get the idea that someone’s spirit may have boulders and rocks that keep them from coming to the Lord? I can’t think of a verse that proves this. I can see them, and they are huge. I have had things that have been in the way, that have hindered me. God revealed to me what it was that kept me dry, stale, and unresponsive to His Word.
We need fresh, clean water of the Word to break the boulders. Some of us are too used to the shallow water, and satisfied for too long with just getting our feet wet. God wants us to wade, swim, and go into the depth of His Word.
He wants us to study the Word, to be consistent, workman that don’t need to be ashamed of how we shared the Gospel, and the Word. We studied it before we spoke out to the people. We prayed, and ministered to the Lord before we spoke to the twenty, hundreds, or thousands of people.
How did we get from snow in the forecast, to breaking the rocks in our spirit? You know this is written to someone out there who knows the Lord, and walks with Him, but wants a deeper walk with Him. You can’t bring the Lord close except through your own humility, and repentance. Those who seek Him will find Him. If we start seeking Him, He draws close. God loves His children, but some have too much apathy, pride, arrogance, manipulation, and strings attached. Their hearts are not right before Him. Some don’t care, mock, and carry on, because they have been hurt by the church.
God says when He forgive, it is a done thing. He puts our sins behind His back. He forgives and the sin we carried is removed as far as the East is from the West. He loves us, but we were not born again to carry the load of sin again. Repentance and coming clean, means that you shine like the stars when you are through, and you are not aware of the change He has made when you are before others. Your words are powerful once again, because you have crucified the flesh, turned from your own wicked ways, and sought the Lord.
Does He have your heart? You can give him all your heart, and live for Him all the days of your life. It is easy. Say, Father, I am sorry for my own sin. I confess it to you now. (Do that with your heart.) I accept Christ Jesus as my Lord, and my Savior. He died for me. I ask you to forgive me for my own sins, and cleanse my heart. I give it to you now. Come into my life and I give you my heart and life now. In Jesus name.
Those who seek the Lord, find Him, and they want more of Him. He is fantastic, wonderful, ever-present, marvelous, and One who is always there to hear when you invite Him into your life. Pray from your heart.
God loves the real thing. The real repentance, the real humility of spirit, because you have repented of your own sins before you spoke. You have done already what you are telling others to do.
The problem with Christianity today is that we are too dry. We don’t want to pick up the Word of God, read it for ourselves, or make a commitment to Christ. We want a simple relationship that means go to church a half hour a week.
The word “Let” is so important. Children have to be “Let” to come to Him. Do you know that a child-like faith is important to God? It is believing without seeing the common sense side of things. Someone who is not always analyzing the situation.
Child-like does not been like a baby, but it does mean without questioning, and debating, and religious heirs. It mean coming with humility, but courage, boldness, without fear.
Why not find a verse that fits a situation and say it out loud. Faith comes to you as you hear the Word of God about that subject. Bringing ourselves before Him in repentance, courage, humility, boldness, and authority gives us conviction to pray with His wisdom. He delights in us. He loves us. Why not come running into His Presence. Why not sing to Him?
It is hard to get some people to raise their hands and sing to the Lord. I don’t know what would stop someone from quietly, in the quietness of their home, to raise their hands to their Creator, and thank Him for giving them life abundantly through Jesus Christ. There should be no reason for hesitation.
I say this prayer sometimes, “Father, I bind every spirit not of Christ between You and me, and I release the powerful Presence of the Holy Spirit in me. I plead the authority of Christ over my home, and the blood of Christ to cover my family and me. I loose the Holy Spirit to speak to me, and I bind the other voices, including self. Christ has rule in my body, soul, and spirit in Jesus name.”
Clear the channel between you, and God. Bind the interferences, and release the Holy Spirit to speak to you. You can, as a Christian, exercise your authority . Too many times those who see some spiritual success will get into self-pride, manipulation, arrogance, and into a religious spirit. What happened in the past is revered, but there is no freedom now.
How do you have a new, fresh, encounter with God? The Word of God renews your mind.
Here is some advice for someone. Cut the television off after the first time you have watched the news. You are home alone, and you should use some of your time seeking the Lord.
Be bold. Get your Bible out, and open it to Psalms 27. Read this passage out loud for three weeks, every day, and mean it. Start kneeling in your home, and releasing the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to move in you and in your family. Bind every spirit not of Christ, and release the Presence of the Holy Spirit.
Go to every room of your house, including the garage. Confess Christ is Lord in your home, and resubmit yourself, and your family, and your belongings to Him. Many times I kneel in every room before I get my own Bible study going. It helps. I kneel at the front door, and other doors in my home frequently. There is not anything wrong with confessing Christ as Lord in your home.
The authority you have as a Christian is much. You need to study the Word so you can use it in your praying, speaking, and writing. Smile.
